This Month Is For: Hope
The Story Behind the Blankie, Hope

After marrying her husband Mike, my friend longed for a child—but years earlier, she had chosen to have her tubes tied. When she awoke from surgery hoping to reverse it, the doctor gently told her the tubes were too short to reconnect. Her dream of having a baby seemed lost.
Out of tears and prayer, she began fertility treatments, trusting that the Lord, who had placed this desire on her heart, would fulfill His promise. Against all odds, her ovaries responded wonderfully, producing 24 perfect embryos; two were transferred. On the way to the hospital to see if the transfer was successful despite growing signs of failure, she lifted a prayer to the Lord for a sign of hope.
As she sat in the waiting room, a nurse she’d never met walked in, smiled, and said, “Hi, my name is Hope, and I’ll be your nurse.” Though the transfer did not result in a pregnancy, in that moment, she knew God had answered her prayer — The answer isn’t no; it’s just not yet.
A month later, during a frozen transfer, the same nurse—Hope—placed two more embryos into her womb. This time, one embryo resulted in a healthy baby girl.
Born August 4, 2011, she was given the only name her parents ever considered—Hope—a living reminder that God always keeps His promises.
Hope’s story doesn’t end there. Using their remaining embryos, her parents chose open adoption through Snowflake Adoption. Their selfless gift allowed another couple, who longed for children, to welcome two healthy baby boys, biologically Hope’s brothers, into their family. Today, two families are forever connected through this miracle of life, a testament to how God multiplies blessings when we choose faith and love.
